LOWBED SEMI TRAILER

A low bed semi-trailer is designed with an low cargo loading platform, namely the drop deck. Platform height is typically 0.8–1.2m, providing an extremely low center of gravity for enhanced driving stability and reduced rollover risk.Its low-profile configuration grants superior road adaptability for navigating bridges and tunnels, and reduces the center of gravity (COG) of loaded goods.With its recessed drop deck positioned beneath the front gooseneck and rear wheel sets, this trailer is structurally equipped with an integrated gooseneck, hence its widely adopted name: low bed semi trailer.In some countries, lowbed semi trailers are also referred to as lowboy semi trailers or low loader semitrailers.Standard load rating from 20 to 100 tons, with multi-axle versions capable of over 300 tons.

SHIYUN lowbed semi-trailers are mainly constructed from high-strength structural steel Q550 or Q460, with a yield strength> 620MPa.Compared with ordinary Q345 steel used for semi-trailers, our steel features higher strength and better durability, which greatly improves load capacity and life time while effectively reducing the overall weight.Reasonable structural design and precise camber fabrication have earned SHIYUN lowboy trailers a broad market and excellent reputation.

The loading platform can be designed with either straight beam or concave beam structure.For the straight beam type, the platform height is consistent and level with the tires.The concave beam type features a lower loading platform, which sits below the tire level, providing a lower loading height.You can choose the appropriate design based on your specific transportation requirements.

In addition, SHIYUN offer both fully enclosed tire design and exposed tire design to meet the transportation requirements of different cargoes.The exposed tire design has further lowers the platform height to accommodate taller cargo.

SHIYUN lowbed semi-trailers can be designed with various widths to meet different requirements.The standard minimum width is 2 meters, while most customers choose a width between 2.5 meters and 3 meters.We can also customize trailers with a maximum width of up to 6 meters as per your needs.In addition to fixed-width designs, we can equip extendable brackets to achieve flexible conversion between different loading widths.

A wide range of suspension systems are available.SHIYUN lowbed trailers can be equipped with leaf spring suspension with equalizer beams , air suspension, cantilever suspension(bogie) ,hydraulic lifting suspension, as well as the dedicated suspension for hydraulic modular trailers.Air suspension can be equipped with WABCO lifting control handles, and hydraulic suspension can be equipped with dedicated hydraulic control handles.

Various types of ramps are available,Allows self-propelled equipment such as excavators and bulldozers to drive and climb on and off directly. Including mechanical ramps, hydraulic ramps and hydraulic folding ramps.Mechanical ramps are equipped with assist springs, while hydraulic ramps come with an independent power unit, control buttons and a remote controller, which greatly improves customers’ loading, unloading and transportation efficiency.

To meet the needs of customers transporting containers, SHIYUN can install container twist locks on lowbed semi trailers to ensure secure and stable loading.The loading platform can be designed to a length of 20ft or 40ft, and can also be made telescope extendable to accommodate container transportation.

The perfect telescopic extendable beam design is another key advantage of SHIYUN low bed semi-trailers.Unlike structures made of conventional Q345 steel, we use high-strength steel plates Q550, ensuring the telescopic beams resist deformation, extend and retract smoothly and efficiently, and completely eliminate the risk of failing to retract after extension.

To increase the load capacity at the fifth wheel position, we recommend using a dolly trailer, which provides higher payload and stronger stability.

The loading platform can be made of checker plate or wooden planks, featuring sufficient thickness and high strength.

For the transportation of high-value equipment and construction machinery, SHIYUN recommend front-loading lowbed semi-trailers for a lower center of gravity, ensuring safer and more efficient delivery.They are mainly divided into hydraulic detachable gooseneck lowbed trailers and hydraulic folding gooseneck lowbed trailers.This semi-trailer is generally equipped with two types of power control systems: one is a hydraulic power unit, and the other is the PTO (Power Take-Off) of the tractor. Both can precisely control the hydraulic cylinder on the gooseneck to achieve lifting, disassembly, assembly, hoisting and other operations.

3.Delivery and Shipment

As the overall dimensions of a low-bed semi-trailer are usually larger than those of a standard container, it cannot be shipped inside a container under normal circumstances.We generally transport the trailer via Ro-Ro vessels or bulk ship vessels directly to your designated port.To save on ocean freight, some customers also choose smaller-sized low-bed semi-trailers that can be loaded into containers, which is another practical shipping method.
